2020 Midyear - Top 10 Disability and Employment WorkforceGPS Resources

During the 80’s American disc jockey Casey Kasem hosted America’s Top 10 to highlight hit songs.  As we reach the midpoint of the calendar year 2020, ETA is putting a spotlight on our updated top 10 hits on WorkforceGPS Disability and Employment that have emerged during the past year.  We look forward to continuing to add new innovative tools to help improve employment outcomes for people with disabilities.

 

  1. Disability and Employment eLearning Modules: A Tool to Support Organizational Learning – WorkforceGPS webinar held on May 20, 2020, that provided an overview of the Disability and Employment eLearning Modules designed to support front line American Job Center (AJC) staff and managers provide effective services to individuals with disabilities and businesses.
  2. American Job Center (disability job driven resources)- A weekly webcast coffee chat launched in early 2020 to help further build the capacity of American Job Centers support the disability population enter or return to the labor force.
  3. Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Other Disability Related Resources- Targeted compilation of resources shared to support the WorkforceGPS Disability and Employment community stay informed during the COVID-19 crisis.
  4. National Mentoring Month – Helping Shape the Next Decade:January was National Mentoring Month. Just taking a moment out of your day throughout 2020 can positively impact our youth over the next decade.
  5. Disability and Apprenticeship Apprenticeships are a great way for people with disabilities to gain entry into a number of well-paying occupations in the technology, manufacturing, construction, and health care industries..
  6. Disability Focus Tax Incentives: Employers and Individuals with Disabilities - Businesses accommodating or hiring employees with disabilities may qualify for tax credits and deductions.
  7. Soft Skills and Disability Employment - Soft skills refer to a broad set of skills, competencies, behaviors, attitudes and personal qualities that enable people to effectively navigate their environment, work well with others, and achieve goals.
  8. Youth with Disabilities - ETA shared resource links to support workforce professionals to help ensure that youth with disabilities and their families have access to services that can facilitate a seamless a transition during the formative years of development.
